A wide variety of buildings and monuments feature on ancient coins. They allow us to get a feeling for what the ancients saw as they wandered around their cities, although quite often a certain amount of artistic license is applied. Perspective and scale do seem to have been often played with in order to fill the circular shape available to the die engravers.
